Las Arcadas
Bar
Calle Agramonte entre República y López Recio
Camagüey

Canalcubano: It is one of the day time Bars located in the area of the Colonial Galerie. The decoration is cheerful and the place lively. Ideal for having a drink during a shopping afternoon or a walk in the historic circuit of Camagüey.

El Cambio
Bar
Plaza de Agramonte
Calle Martín 152
Camagüey
Tel: 32/28-6240

Canalcubano: This bar El Cambio in the city of Camagüey is a place worth visiting. Located opposite Plaza Agramonte, the establishment has a charming design and decoration with ceramic elements in its floor and ceiling.

Frommers: Acool, slightly bedraggled little drinking hole on the northeast corner of Parque Agramonte and open to the street. Open since 1909, it has a thick patina of graffiti on its walls and a ceramic mural over the bar by a well-known local artist, Oscar Lasseria. And best of all, it never closes

Café del Hotel Colón
Hotel Colón
Calle República #472
Camagüey
Tel: (32) 283368

Canalcubano: People from Camagüey know that this bar-café, situated in the inner yard of this old hotel, is one of the nicest in town. Only a few foreigners (a part from those living here) are aware of it. Thanks to its location, in the middle of the historic centre, and the charm of its building, set up in 1926, it transmits the sensation to be an integral part of every day life.

Frommers: The Hotel Colón has the city's other great hotel bar: the elegant, old-world Lobby Bar. Open since 1927 but newly and splendidly restored, you should come here for a cocktail to start or finish off the evening.

Casa de la Trova
Salvador Cisneros #171 e / Marti y Cristo
Camaguey
Tel 32/29-1357

CanalCubano: Located in the historical center of the city, in front of Agramonte Square, that is the place to go if you want to listen to traditional cuban and local music within a pleasant popular atmosphere. Food and drinks are modest.

Frommers: One of the liveliest in Cuba, with good bands and great local crowds. The handsome colonial structure facing the newly renovated Parque Agramonte has a large, open-air patio under tall palm trees and an elegant but relaxed atmosphere. It's open Tuesday through Sunday from 9am to 7pm, Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30pm to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 8:30pm to 2am; admission is $3 and includes your first drink.

Club Flamingo
Centro Nocturno
Playa de Santa Lucía
Nuevitas

La Cuba
Independencia #208 entre Martí y Hnos. Agüero
Camagüey
Tel: (322) 92804

Canalcubano: A quite simple bar that converts into a disco later on at night. Its decorators are definitely not the most creative ones in Cuba and we consider its list of drinks to be a short one. Nevertheless Cubans love to go there and specially on week-ends the ambient is great with people dancing until sun-rise. Some of its clients join from other places to spend the rest of their night in this place. You can consume sandwiches and light meals. Prices will make you smile.

Disco Impacto
Calle República entre San Esteban y Correa
Camagüey

Canalcubano: A day-time bar which transforms into a disco at night. Very crowded during week-ends. If you are not Cuban, you will hardly meet with any of your compatriots. Open 24 hours a day but during some seasons it might close at 2 am.

Galería Colonial
Agramonte nº 406 entre República y López Recio
Camaguey

Canalcubano: This is a complex of restaurant, bar, cabaret, etc., which at night changes its patio into the liveliest place in Camagüey. Cuban people and tourists have to stand in line to enter. Located in the centre of the town near Gran Hotel.

Galeria Uneac

La Jungla
Discotheque
Hotel Club Santa Lucía

Mamá Inés
Café
Calle Agramonte entre República y López Recio

Canalcubano: A famous song gives its name to this café, located in the colonial circuit were you can also find some shops, a bar and a good restaurant. At Mamá Inés one can buy good cuban coffee to take home. At night the ambience is fantastic.

Mambo
Discotheque
Hotel Club Amigo Mayanabo

Frommers: A traditional Saturday night affair that gets locals going with dancing, live music, flowing booze, and local eats on pedestrian-only Tourists are welcome, but keep an eye on your belongings.

Café del Hotel Plaza
Hotel Plaza. Van Horne nº 1 e/ República y Avellaneda
Camaguey

Canalcubano: Near the majestic Plaza vestibule, is one of the best places to have a drink and to taste the Camagüey environment. There uses to play an excellent music trio.

Salsa de Fiesta Disco Café
Indepencia # 208
Camaguey

Nightly from 10 pm till 3 am

Siboney
Bar

Canalcubano: Fascinating bar, wooden decoration, great for having a drink at any time of the day. Located in the historic circuit, very close to the most famous squares of the city.

Teatro Principal
Padre Valencia 64 e/ Tatán Mendéz and Lugareño
Camaguey
Tel: 32/29-3048

Frommers: Built in 1850, the neoclassical Teatro Principal, is an elegant showpiece with a grand marble staircase and chandeliers. The theater is home to the distinguished Ballet de Camagüey, known for its international tours and second only to Havana's ballet company. The company is well worth seeing if you are lucky enough to be in town when a performance is scheduled; I recently caught an excellent performance of Giselle. Paradiso/ARTex, a cultural tour promoter, offers group visits to the ballet company, with backstage tours of the theater, interviews with choreographers and dancers, and the opportunity to sit in on a rehearsal. Tours are $5 per person. Call ARTex at tel. 32/28-5242 for more information. Other performances scheduled at the Teatro include those of the local Orchesta Sinfónica.

Terraza Callejón de la Soledad
Café
Plaza de la Soledad
Camagüey

Canalcubano: Open in 2002 and located in a small street of paving, next to the church of "La Soledad" a jewel of the Cuban baroque, this open-air cafe is already a Must during our walks through the old part of the city. "Bravo" to the Santa María company owned by the "Oficina del Historiador" in Camagüey. Soon, there will be also a restaurant and a small hotel nearby.

Tradicuba
Cabaret
Hotel Camagüey
Carretera Central Este esq. km 4 Jayamá.
Camagüey

Canalcubano: It is part of the Camagüey Hotel and a “must” of the nightlife in town. The evening starts with a cabaret performance and a fantastic ballet. Later on at night the spectators leave their chairs to dance with salsa and disco music. Saturday is the best night to go there but entrance is a bit more expensive.

Trova Latina
Ramon Guerrero # 121
Camaguey

Thursday and Saturday 10 pm

Panorama
Cabaret
Hotel Puerto Príncipe
Camagüey

Canalcubano: One of the classic Cabarets in the city. To be found in the last floor of Puerto Príncipe Hotel. It offers music and dance exhibitions and transforms into a lively discotheque late at night.

Piano Bar
Hotel Club Amigo Mayanabo
Nuevitas

Piano Bar Marquesina
Gran Hotel
Maceo 64, e/ General Gómez and Ignacio Agramonte
Camaguey
Tel: 32/29-2550

Canalcubano: Located in the Gran Hotel ground floor, this place is very well frequented every day. Its decoration, a bit kitsch, is a part of its appeal. There are usually good local son live performances.

Frommers: Tucked behind a door at the back of the lobby of the Gran Hotel is Piano Bar Marquesina. This sumptuously atmospheric cocktail lounge serves classic bar drinks. A sexy side room, where couples tend to canoodle, turns into a small disco late in the evening; occasionally there's live music.
