Nr 2 Casa Particular Award 2010
A collection of what people have said about Casa Aleido in their votes for the Casa Particular Award 2010 |
I have been to several casas in la Habana, many times, also to hotels, and Casa Aleido is the best! Felt so home and welcome from the first minute there!!!!
Eat dinner there its the beeeeessssttt!
We will for sure return!!! Thumbs up !!!!
Very clean house, very centric, very secure, there are many places to eat near the area and management is very friendly. Bed are comfortable and don't make noice.
La casa aleido had the better location and its secluded from the noise of the street, its an oasis inside and then when one steps out you are in the middle of the action in la habana. And Aleido is the friendlist cuban i have ever met
The house is very clean and well located. Coffee is offered whenever one goes back to the kitchen and aleido is simply marvelous! I would continue to stay there forever and ever. Did i mention the two dogs add a surreal touch to it all!?
During my visit to the casa, the owner (aleido) did everything in his hands to make us feel at home and that is the best a bed and breakfast can offer and on top of that he has the best cuban food in town
I would like to nominate casa particular aleido because its a fabulous location! The apartment is very clean and aleido is very friendly and helpful. He makes the best cuban food! .
Gayfriendly, good food, homelike, clean, welcoming, central.
I have been visiting Cuba for several years now and a couple of years ago stumbled on to Casa Aleido's through this website. It was a true blessing! I have made new friends that I correspond with to date and the atmossphere at Aleido's has been fantastic. The rooms are clean and spacious and you have all the amenities that one might need and his staff is courteous and very helpful. Aleido is also a very good cook and prepares some of the best Cuban coffees I have drank to date. I trully enjoy my stays at Casa Aleido's and can't wait to return in the summer of 2011. Casa Aleido is good for both business travellers as those for leisure. With its central location all that one might need to reach or see is within easy access.
I even got to enjoy one of my favorite passtimes while in Cuba, namely playing Dominoes while at Aleido's.
Staying at Aleido´s for me it´s the best choice I ever made in all my trips around the world, is feeling like in a big family, where you can live an experience unforgettable with his delicious food. I will go back to his place when I go to Cuba again, though I´ve there many times.
Aleido is the most wonderful host... even better than some of my friends!! He immediately made me feel welcome in his home, and has the most sparkling personality. I simply loved staying with him. He is a fabulous cook, and brews a fabulous cup of tea if you have a sore throat! My boyfriend and I had the best meals of our trip in his casa, and we both agreed that there is no other place we would stay when we return to Cuba. Even though I speak un poquito de espanol and my boyfriend spoke none, we had no trouble laughing together and talking about life. I would highly recommend Casa Aleido! It´s the best!
Because I have been there more than 12 times and it is like if it were my own house, i feel at home and Aleido is very friendly and very authentic and very importane he is a GREAT cook! His house is the best house in Havana and I Think he deserves first place!!!
The hospitality of Aleido and his staff, the cleanliness, the incredible food, the convenient location. Aleido does his best to make his guests welcome and comfortable.
Most friendly casa particular. Very nice host who can almost make everything real. The most impossible things he will make possible. |

Aleido's is a great place to stay in a very central location, as soon as we walked in we felt totally at home, all of Aleido's family were wonderful and could not do enough for us, Aleido himself is a great cook, and despite the fact we were nearly four hours late arriving he still cooked us the best lobster I have ever had.
He is very funny, charming and makes you feel very much at ease, the Casa was very clean, roomy and colourful! We really were sad to leave, and would definitely stay there again.

I really enjoyed my stay at Casa Aleido. Aleido, Diberto (his brother) his family made my stay worthwhile. A safe haven away from the hustlers and beggers on the streets of Habana. If I do go to Habana again, and I would love too I would stay with Aleido again.

Casa Aleido
Casa Aleido was incredible! Even though i could speak very little Spanish Aleido recommended music clubs and other places to visit in Havana. The food here is delicious too. A warm and friendly place.
We planned to stay for 3 days, this turned in to 7 days as Aleido and his family made us feel so at home. Accommodation is clean and comfortable and in the centre of Havana life.
If you want to feel welcome, eat good food and make good friends I would highly recommend staying at Casa Aleido, staying in beautiful Havana with Aleido, Dilberto, Mary Ellena, our friends Miguel and jonathan (xxx) made our holiday.
Havana is a special place and Aleido makes it more special. Can’t wait to go back!

Amazing! Fab! Loved it! Felt totally at home. Had so much fun and started speaking Spanish instantly as everyone made such an effort to make sure we understood it. Aleido, his brother, Dilberto, his daughter, Mary Ellena and his friends made us feel like family. Can't wait to go back again.

Casa Aleido
Very confused by the post below because I found Aleido to be the perfect host. No - more than perfect. He is the warmest, funniest most fantastic person going and he did everything he could to help me when I was there.
I asked for breakfasts and I got them. Very nice too and cooked by Dilberto, Aleido's lovely brother.
If you have an appreciation of the absurd, love life and laughing then this is definately the place for you.
We actually cut short our trip to Trinidad just so we could return to the fun and frolicks of Casa Aleido.
We'll definitely be going back there.
p.s Don't worry about Aleido not speaking much English. His mimes paint the most fabulous pictures and are absolutely hilarious. I didn't speak a word of English and yet managed not only to communicate simple things but to share jokes. Brilliant!

Casa Aleido
Great location and front room with balconies is very spacious and comfortable. However practically no contact with our host Aleido, who was always too busy to talk. Therefore this is not the ideal casa if you want to know more about Cuban life. Also no breakfast served, but dinner is well worth having.

Casa Aleido
I've stayed at Casa Aleido for 4 days 2 weeks ago and I had the best introduction to Havana that I could have wished for.
I was traveling by myself and this was my first trip to Cuba.
Aleido is one of the funniest people I've met in Cuba and he also took me out clubbing and got a glimpse into Havana's nightlife that I would have never been able to experience if I had tried on my own.
Do NOT miss out on the food offered at this casa! The portions are not only huge, but extremely delicious....
The location itself is perfect and the casa rooms are lovely, comfortable and clean.
The way the apartment is laid out, you can be for yourself if you wish to have privacy, or walk over to the kitchen and mingle and hang out and have fun.

Casa Aleido
I stayed several times at Aleidos place. The location is perfect 2 minutes walk from Parque Central and the Capitolio.
It is a nice apartment with separate entrance on the first floor which exists out of a large living with sofa's and a double bed and a dining room with a fridge. The apartment has its own bathroom with toilet and shower (hot and cold water).
The place is very comfortable and if you feeling warm, just turn on the huge air-conditioning and you will be freezing in five minutes.
If you are bored just turn on the television or listen to some music on the stereo set which are both in the living, or you can open the big doors which gives you access to the small balcony from which you can overview El Boulevard (San Rafael) and enjoy the meltingpot of people who are walking the street.
From all this you might get hungry. At the back of the house you will find Aleido in the kitchen. Tell him you would like to eat and for a reasonable fee Aleido prepares you a nice meal of which many Cubans only can dream off. Aleido is a nice person who runs for the "extranjeros" (foreigner guests). Tell him what you like to eat one day before and if possible he will arrange it for you. Special requests like fruity meals or vegetarian meals are possible if you tell him in advance.
The place is gay friendly (but you don't have to be gay (like me) to stay there). Aleido himself is gay and very proud about it. If you are gay and like to know what is going on in Havana Aleido is the man to ask. He can tell you all about it (by the way if you’re not gay it might be interesting to ask as well. I had some good times at gay-parties with my girlfriend where Aleido has taken us.
But believe me you do not have to be gay to have a great stay in this house!

Casa Aleido
I just returned from my 10 day trip to Cuba, where I spent 6 nights in the Casa particular of Aleido.
I can recommend this place warmly to everyone. Aleido is a fun and nice man, he is helpful and a good cook. The really big room has Air-condition, TV, Stereo, an own fridge and an own bathroom. You get your own key and have a separate entrance. If you might think of going out and meeting girls, it is no problem either for Aleido if you want to take one home. The place is in the very center of Habana Centro, just 100m from the Prado, the Capitol National and the Hotel Inglaterra. It is very good value! Rooms are always clean and amazingly nicely decorated and big! You can do your own things and are not obliged to anything, but you can also meet other travelers/foreigners there and ask Aleido to cook for you.
Kind regards
Markus

Casa Aleido
We are just back from Cuba, where we had a fantastic time. We loved Havana, it’s a city that is vibrant and alive, so much do and see. We stayed in the very central Casa Aleido on San Rafael, which is just around the corner from Hotel Inglaterra (where we enjoyed many Mojitos) and Praque Central. The Casa is lovely. We had a nice big room with en suite, the room was airy and cool and very homely. Aleido is full of fun and is a great host.
I definitely recommend eating at the Casa. Aleido cooked us a superb dinner that was so good that we had it a second night. They were the best 2 meals we had on our whole holiday.
