Café TV

Inaugurated in 2001, this modern bar is located in the ground floor of building Focsa, in the centre of Havana, and it is usually crowded at weekends with lively kind of people, both Cuban and international. In this place, there are live performances and a karaoke. It has also an economic chart of dishes. The decoration has to do with the history of Cuban television.

  • Address: 17 Edificio Focsa entre M y N, Vedado. La Habana Tel: (7) 334499
  • Open:

Taberna Café

Café Taberna is also known as 'el Rincón de Beny Moré' (Beny's corner), because the whole place is dedicated to the man and his music. Full of new jukeboxes and old pictures of pre-Revolutionary celebrities, the airy bar/restaurant has a 1950s feel to it. El Septeto Matamoros and the Septeto Son de Trópico play son and bolero music here daily from 11am to 5pm and from 7pm to 11pm. Watch out: the waiters will rip you off in a flash.

  • Address: Calle Mercaderes #531, esquina a Brasil (Teniente Rey)
  • Open 11am- midnight daily

Taberna de la Muralla

Opened in june 2003 by the austrian company Salm and the Cuban Habaguanex, this pub is probably the best one on the island. It is situated on sunny Plaza Vieja, inside an imposing colonial, XVIII century building. As the place is also factory and museum where curious objects linked to the world of beer consume are exposed, at its magnificent bar inside you can finally enjoy draught beers (something almost impossible in Cuba), clear and dark, Pilsen or typical Bavarian ones, from the establishment’s own production. Enjoy its different, beautiful halls and precious inner yard. For those who feel hungry after drinking, different kind of sausages, hamburgers and other simple dishes are available.

  • Address: Calle San Ignacio nº 368 esquina Muralla, Plaza Vieja. La Habana

Taberna del Tío Cabrera

This place doesn’t hide its previlege to rappresent Cuba’s oldest catering business, founded around 1760. We consider the gastronomic offer to be quite poor with a need to be improved not only because of its historical back ground but also because of the fact that in this village, situated 25 km away from La Habana, is taking place the biennial festival of the good humour. In addition, one of the most important film schools all over the world is just around the corner as well as the birth place of the troubadour Silvio Rodríguez.

  • Address: San Antonio de los Baños. La Habana

Taberna El Galeón

A nice place where visitors may taste a great variety of rums. Unfortunately it is often invaded with big groups of tourists. When ever this happens,it is better to get out quickly.

  • Address: Plaza de Armas. La Habana Vieja

La Tasca de la Divina Pastora

This establishment is made up of a nice terrace and a small bar, enjoying wonderful views too. It is located in the great Castillo del Morro, just at the entry of Havana´s Bay. It is possible here to take any kind of drink and to eat light meals. But, be careful! because the waiters try to serve lobsters -excellent, though- or so, instead of sandwiches, from the restaurant next to the bar.

  • Address: Fortaleza de la Cabaña, Habana del Este. La Habana

Teatro América

Modelled after New York's Radio City Music Hall, the América hosts all kinds of concerts, but especially rock, rap and reggae. Check the theatre billboards for concert information.

  • Address: Avenida de Italia (Galiano) #253, entre Concordia y Neptuno
  • Open: Box office 10am-4pm Tue-Sun; closed Mon.

Teatro Nacional de Cuba

The Teatro Nacional is a theatre/concert hall/night-club complex, containing the Sala Covarrubia and Sala Avellaneda, the Café Cantante, as well as the Delirio Habanero piano bar. The two salas frequently host the National Symphony Orchestra as well as other big names from the nueva trova, rock and son scene.

  • Address: Paseo, esquina a 39
  • Open: Box office 10am-6pm Tue-Sun; closed Mon.

Tejadillo

Near to the Cathedral’s square, the aired bar of the hostal Tejadillo has got in this short time from its opening with new costumers that frecuently enjoy the bar and tables. It has a kind and affective service.

  • Address: Hostal Tejadillo. Tejadillo esq. San Ignacio, La Habana Vieja

Bar-Café del Hotel Telégrafo

A café located in the patio of the Hotel Telégrafo, with stone walls and up-to-date furniture. This is a meeting place for those going to the theatre Gran Teatro, the museum Museo de Bellas Artes, Floridita or Capitolio, for instance, because the establishment is near a lot of interesting places.

  • Address: Paseo del Prado No. 408 esq. a Neptuno

Terraza (La)

This open-air, roof-top disco is a little dilapidated, but it does have a great view of the ocean and the city. It's geared towards both foreigners and nationals - it tends to get packed with Cubans, especially on Saturdays - and prices are very reasonable. There's a mixed music policy (everything from salsa to techno) and a live show at 10pm from Friday to Sunday.

  • Address: Hotel Lincoln, Avenida de Italia (Galiano) #164, esquina a Virtudes
  • Open 10am-midnight Mon-Thur, Sun; 10am-2am Fri, Sat.

La Terraza de Cojímar

Is the anteroom of the restaurant where Hemingway’s memory shines. A few tables and a beautiful wood bar makes us feel wonderful.

  • Address: Real # 161 e/ Río y Montaña, Cojímar
    Tel: (7)338702

Terraza del Hotel Nacional (La)

Stroll up the palm tree-lined, spotlit driveway; breeze past the fancily dressed doormen; strut straight through the glorious lobby and you'll pop out onto the Nacional's magnificent terrace; settle into a sofa and within a minute you can order that cocktail ($3.50) – can't be bad. This is definitely the place to smoke your latest black market purchases, but it's not at all pretentious and is the place in Havana to chill out. With music comfortably in the background and seats throughout the grounds, this place should not be missed. As a bonus you'll be rewarded with the best sea view in Havana.
Outside tables.

  • Address: Calle O, esquina a 21
  • Open: 24hrs daily

Terraza del Hotel Presidente

This traditional veranda is one of the most pleasant places at the Vedado neighbourhood for refreshments and conversation at any time throughout the day. It serves good cocktails and has an efficient service.

  • Address: Hotel Presidente. Calzada # 110 esq. G, Vedado

Tikoa Club

Located on La Rampa (the name for this end of Calle 23), Club Tikoa is very popular with young Cubans, who dance the night away to mostly Latin tunes, salsa and merengue.

Footprint:
Popular with travellers and locals, this small and sweaty basement club swings between a strong Afro-Cuban vibe, with Monday night rumba shows, and upbeat salsa all week long. There are also weekend matinées, 1600-2000 at 0.50 CUC, with a more spiced local flavour.

  • Address: Calle 23 #177, entre N y O
  • 3 CUC
  • Open: 10pm-4am daily

Bar La Torre
Edificio Focsa. calle 17 nº 55
Havana Vedado
Tel: (7) 553088

If somebody cultivated and "connaisseur" living in Havana wants to invite and to impress a guest from outside, it is very possible that he will chose this Bar at first. The view from there is just as breath-taking that it is almost impossible not to fall in love with this wonderful city. There is a huge list of coctails and drinks. Do you want to experience an unforgettable moment? Do you want to spend a sunset in La Habana with a glass of Daiquiri Rebelde or Dry Martini in your hands? That´s the place to go. Enjoy!

Tres Chinitos (Los)

Come prepared for some serious dancing and a lot of jineteras at Los Tres Chinitos in barrio chino (Chinatown). If you need to refuel or the late-night munchies suddenly hit you, pop next door for the best pizza in town (open 24hrs).

  • Address: Dragones, entre Manrique y Campanario
  • Open: 11pm-6am daily

Tropicana

  • Address: Calle 72 No. 4504 y Calle 43, Marianao
  • Open: Tuesday to Sunday 9pm / 2am

Túnel (El)

The worst years of “the special period” are over and Cuba is economically stronger. El Túnel is a clear example of this development.Young Cubans, dressed like any young European person, use to go there from Thursday to Sunday to dance the night away. This “cave” lies in La Vibora, a non tourist district. The place is in fashion today; loud music, dancing, a well provided bar with good prices and a healthy ambience are part of the offer. Only few foreigners go to El Túnel; maybe they have never heard of the place.

  • Address: Patrocinio esq. Saco, Víbora. La Habana.
