Jeep Tour
Skip it. Get a map and go for a drive. The tour goes in a circle around Varadaro and most of the time is wasted driving through back fields. The snorkingly was fantastic and if you rent a car, drive for 15 minutes on a very safe road outside "resort land" you can find the same attraction and guides that will rent you the equipment and take you out on the reef.
I LOVE CUBA! Been twice and already looking forward to a third visit.

Jeep safari tour
This is suppoased to be nice tour but guide's schedule change and not visiting Matanzas turned it into not so nice. Parts of it though, like snorkeling in coral reef and river boating, were "shine points" while visiting "the farmer's house" (what we couldn't recognise as house) and lunch (with only pork offered) are the bad ones.

Varadero

I took the Jeep Safari tour in Varadero and all in all I would say the experience was a good one. The snorkeling was great, as were the caves and river cruise. However when we stopped for lunch and horseback riding I noticed a donkey that required medical attention. It had a huge gash around it's neck from a rope that was too tight and had not been removed. I complained at the hotel tour desk and she advised me to write. I have gone so far as to have the letter translated into Spanish for easier communication but have not successfully faxed it yet and I can't find the tour companies e-mail. Take the tour but complain if you see this is still going on because we just can't allow this to happen to animals without trying to stop it.

there are two Jeep Safari, one is more expensive and less fun, pick the cheaper one, pay the US to drive one of their 4x4 jeeps through rough terrain and local towns. it's an all day adventure, they take you to a cave where you go snorkeling, a beach where you go snorkeling (don't forget to buy a banana leaf hat for Using (content).50) another under cave with 100% humidity. Make sure you drive through the mud puddles!
