Casa Rancho Florida

We had a fantastic time at Racho Florida it really did live up to all the five star reviews I had read, the location is second to none right on the ocean, Nelly and Angel were just the best hosts, they really could not do enough for us and Angels cooking is superb both for breakfast and dinner, the room was very clean and charming and the bathroom was excellent, always tons of hot water.

After dinner you can sit on your own private balcony and watch the most amazing sunsets followed by the local fisherman rowing out with little lamps on board ready for a nights fishing, absolutely delightful this must be the most relaxing place to stay in Cuba had time permitted we would have stayed more than 3 nights but alas we had a flight to catch, so sad to go, Thank you Nelly and Angel for making us feel so much at home, your twins are beautiful, really hope to get back to see you again.

Casa Rancho Florida

Nelly and Angel are fantastic hosts, they are really helpful and friendly. The food was fantastic and plentiful Angel goes to great lengths to impress. The views spectacular and they simply couldnt do enough to ensure we had a great stay.
The casa is right on the beach so breakfast and all meals are taken watching the sea, sun and sky. Great sunsets. Its a quiet relaxing location.
The room was quite small but cosy and comfortable. The shower was always scorching hot.
We stayed with them for a few days went on our travels then returned to stay with them again because it was so lovely.

Casa Rancho Florida

We had such an amazing time staying at Casa Rancho Florida that we had to extend our stay!  The room was beautiful and clean, with a balcony overlooking the Caribbean sea, the food that our hosts cooked was superb and I highly recommend that any one staying here should definately eat in and avoid the restaurants!  Although not in central Trinidad it is only a short taxi ride away or bike ride if you are fit!  I think that if you wish to explore the area around Trinidad there is nowhere better to stay!

Casa Rancho Florida

The best Casa we experienced in Cuba. THE place to stay near Trinidad. Very relaxed and only 20 m from the carribean Sea. Eloy and Sonja are wonderfull hosts. Warm and friendly and Eloy is English speaking. He can tell you a lot about everything. He has a very special kind of humor we liked a lot. His meals were fantastic and the view during breakfast and dinners over the Carribean Sea with the fisherman at night is unforgettable. It is a very convenient place where there are only locals who come to relax in the sea.
We were very lucky tho be able to stay a couple of days extra in this Casa.
Trinidad is an amazing little town becouse of its colours, atmosfhere, music and friendly people.
We really recommand the Casa from Eloy and Sonja.

Casa Rancho Florida

I just spent three, relaxing, wonderful nights at Rancho Florida in La Boca. What a way to end my vacation! Eloy was our host and he made us a wonderful breakfast and dinner. There were always cold drinks available and a hot shower, which was important to us girls! The room had two single beds, a small balcony, TV and a nice sized bathroom. The entire casa was extremely clean and we felt at home immediately. We fell asleep every night to the sound of waves crashing outside our room and woke to the sound of roosters crowing. There were bikes available for us each day (3 CUC each), which was a nice way to explore on our own up and down the peninsula. The area has a few restaurants and bars close by and it is a very quiet town, which is a refreshing change from Havana. The casa is less than 5K from Trinidad. We did walk it one day, but you can catch a cab for 4 CUC. We hitch hiked home one night and that made for an unforgettable experience with the locals! This is THE place to stay when visiting Trinidad! Nice, quiet and safe.

Casa Rancho Florida

Just back from Eloy's and Sonia's. A wonderful time with a special, warm family. I can’t praise them enough. They really made our holiday complete. La Boca is beautiful and peaceful. The casa has wonderful views across the sea and of the mountains. And a mention to Sonia's cooking ;-) (Thanks Eloy).

Casa Rancho Florida

We stayed at Rancho Florida in November 2008 and it was great. Lovely house just at the sea and a very friendly host Eloy who is also a great cook! ( we didn’t meet Sonia because she was away from La Boca at the time).

Easy to go to Trinidad (5 minutes driving) and to Ancon beach (car, bicycle and there’s even a mini bus going to the beach few times a day). Eloy can always organize a cab or bicycles for you.

You have a beautiful view of the sea from your bedroom and from the terrace where you eat your meals. Eloy cooked for us and we were very impressed with everything he prepared. We had a chance to try Cuban specialties (e.g. spiny lobster, fresh guayabana juice, honey pie) and they were always delicious and elegantly served. Just a work of art!
We would recommend it to anyone

Casa Rancho Florida

We stayed with Eloy & Sonia in January 2008 for the last week of our 3 week holiday. The friendliness and kindness of this family made our holiday in Cuba complete.

When we were in Havana another Cuban couple who own a Casa (Anna & Pepe) booked this accommodation for us.

Apart from Eloy & Sonia being wonderful hosts, Sonia's home cooking was first class.

La Boca is a quiet village within easy reach of Trinidad & a short cycle to Ancon beach which is beautiful. From the house you can sit on your veranda and watch the local fishermen go out for their nights catch.

If you want to wind down after Havana & Varadero this place is a must. It was so enjoyable and the family so friendly we intend to go back next February.

Casa Rancho Florida

I stayed at Rancho Florida and would recommend it to anyone! The place belongs to Eloy and Sonia, a really lovely couple who became our ‘Cuban parents’ while we were there. Sonia is an amazing cook and every meal looks like a work of art. Eloy really looks after you, can help you arrange trips and travel, and is a very sweet, friendly guy.

The place is right on the sea, and you have your own area out back where you can lie in a hammock and watch the sun set over the ocean. It’s a really beautiful, tranquil place, and Trinidad is only 5 minute’s drive away (a cab is around 4 pesos!). We had the perfect combination: going into picturesque Trinidad to see the town, arrange tours, shop in the markets and salsa into the early hours, and coming home to Rancho Florida to relax by the sea, have a good meal, and soak up the wonderful home environment.

Casa Rancho Florida

I stayed at Rancho Florida for three nights in May, 2005 and had a wonderful time.
The casa is run by Eloy and his wife Sonia, with help from their daughters Nelly and Anna.

For a very low price you get what feels like your own private ocean-front cottage in the back of the house. There are two adjoining rooms sitting off of a beautiful back porch overlooking the sea and the Escambray mountains. A spectacular sunset every night is pretty much guaranteed. You are also invited into the rest of the house to watch television or just to visit.

Swimming in the Caribbean Sea right outside your back porch is amazing.

The meals were delicious and elegantly presented, but they were far more than I could possibly eat in a sitting … Nelly teased me for eating "like a little baby". Sonia will keep your own fridge stocked with water, beer or whatever you need.

Trinidad and Ancon Beach are both a short 10 minute cab ride away. If you are a bit more adventurous, Eloy can hustle up a couple of bicycles for you to peddle to Ancon. By the way, there is great snorkeling just off the public beach beside Hotel Costa Sur, about a 20 minute bike ride from the casa. There is secure parking next to Eloy's '52 Dodge if you've rented a car.

This is a great place to stay to explore Sancti Spiritus Province or just to kick back on the Caribbean.

A small memory of the kindness and attention of the hosts:

When I left the casa in La Boca, I took a taxi at about 6:45 in the morning to make sure I could get on the 8:00 Viazul bus to Havana. While I was waiting at the station, Eloy pulled up in his old Dodge. He had driven into town to bring me a small notepad and some batteries that I had forgotten in the casa. This is Cuba at its best.
