Casa Yisel y Martin
My review: While the room was clean and the dinner was satisfactory as well, we felt completely unwelcome in this home. We stayed here without a reservation because we came into town early enough to beat out those with reservations (who were left to board with a "brother" or "brother-in-law"); however, I was highly disturbed by the fact that the host Gisel/Yisel had a complete meltdown and shouting session (which could be heard in our second floor room) because she did not want her daughter to play with mine. And while her husband insisted that the girls should continue to play, she proceeded to insult me as loud as she could in Spanish (I'm assuming she either thought I was gone or would not understand...both of which were wrong).
I do not care how clean a place is or how good (or not) food may be, the complete disrespect and essentially disgust this woman displayed and it a way that was so overt, loud and insulting...I would not suggest that anyone stay here. There are too many wonderful Casa Particulares to stay in that this one should be skipped altogether.
Casa specifics: Children in the house
Amenities: Private bathroom, Laundry service
How was your room?: The room was clean, had two beds and airconditioning
How was the food they offer?: We had dinner here and it was fine as well.
Other services they offer: Hospitality and service of the hosts was unacceptable bad. House staff were very friendly.
Other comments: I would not recommend this casa to anyone. This absolutely the worst casa experience we had during our visit to Cuba.

This house, is very well located, with a nice room on the 2nd floor, but he AC didn't work. About the owners, we didn't like their hospitality. Don't expect any interaction with them. In the last day, we ask an earlier breakfast, because we had a flight to catch, and they simple fall asleep. For us, they don't know how to receive guests. We shouldn't stay there again in the future.

I would like to recommend Casa Martin y Yisel. The casa is less than five minutes walk from the central square.
Martin is a terrific guy with excellent English who made us very welcome, and he and his wife are great cooks. Try his shrimps or fried plantains, yum! We took to him immediately when he picked us up at the station and told us before getting into the taxi that it would cost 5 cucs. That's very unusual in Cuba as there are often unexpected add-ons or charges. The rooms are excellent and he has a lovely plant-filled patio for dining.
