Amiably helpful
Reserved a casa particular in Camaguey and car rental with Cubacar through Cuba Junky. Both worked out fine. Pototo was also very helpful with a stray visa and found us a replacement casa in Havana when a referral didn't work out.

Our experience with Cuba Junky
When we started to plan our trip to Cuba a friend informed us of this website and it proved to be a fantastic tip that provided us with a trip to remember! Right from our intial contact we felt welcomed and that we were treated as special visitors. Our interest in Casa Particulars in Havana and in Cuba baseball were immediately responded to and we left Canada knowing we had a plan and a go-to contact in case something went sideways. The Casa that was booked for us was a warm and friendly place and immediately we felt at home. Our ballgame at Estadio LatinoAmericano where Villa Clara beat Industrialise 4 -3 was an adventure and although Havana's team lost that day we had a wonderful time at the game and truly experienced the Cuban passion for baseball! Cuban Junky provided us with a fantastic p! lace for us to explore Havana and also tips to get us to the ballgame.
The next day we had a walking tour of Old Havana with Alex ( Aleandro?)which left us tired but a little more familiar with what sites we had to go back and visit over our days in the city.We ended our afternoon in the highest building in Havana having a drink watching the sun go down over the water and getting the location of the ball field where the minor league baseball teams practice after school. This was important as we had brought with us baseball gloves from Canada to donate to children and needed to know where we could go to make sure the gloves went to children who needed them. Our trip to Cuba was fantastic and thanks to Cuba Junky we met some wonderful Cubans and will remember this trip as an adventure.

Pototo
I have used Pototo's services 3 times now and met with him twice. He is very helpful and I believe he can arrange anything for you in Cuba....that is legal. He answered all of my questions in emails regarding tickets for buses, the ballet etc. so we knew what to do once we were there.
I traveled this time with my sisters and niece as we left all our men at home. Besides setting us up in great casas, he arranged for our walking tour with Yariley. She is a delightful young woman, a journalist who speaks perfect English and is very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We consider her a friend now and invited her to join us at the Ballet Nacional Cubana which was wonderful!
Pototo also lined us up with professional private salsa lessons and also arranged for the teachers to go dancing with us at a club in the evening. The price was very reasonable. What fun!
One other traveler we met said Pototo lined him up with Spanish language lessons and boxing training!
Everyone seems to know Pototo in Havana.
I look forward to going back and using his knowledge and assistance to facilitate in my Cuba journeys.
Thank you so much Pototo!

Pototo
I went to Cuba in 2009 and stayed with family; albeit I had a visit with our friend Pototo and his wife Milagros. Was I in for a feast! I felt like I was some kind of celebrity. The meal they served me was fit for a king. Wonderful, loving people. I had a great time visiting with them.

The best travel Website for Cuba! No doubt

This site is the best way to find information about traveling arround Cuba.

When we were planning the trip we realised how difiucult is to get accurate info about the country and the posibilities it offers. Guide books are ok but do not trust what they say because the info is normally out dated.

I work for an accomodation site and could get casas particulares to stay for free but we booked all accomodation through CubaJunky. The reason is the amount and the quality of casas that they have is amazing. This has lots to do with the fact that they know personally every single property they list.

Booking with CubaJunky. For us europeans used to reservations confirmed online, the way of making bookings in this site may look a bit out dated. Unless you know about cuba. Things are different there but beleive me, Pototo is(among other things) an excelent travel agent and he will go trhe extra mile to make your trip safe, easy and hustle free and suggest amazing places to stay if the house you want is full.

They are doing a GREAT job.

PS. I am not Pototos cousing, just a very very happy client!

Our Man in Havana!
Having recently returned from Cuba, Jan 2011, I would like to say a huge thanks to Pototo, who really made our visit something special. As a family of 5, 2 teenage girls and a 9 year old boy, organising Cuba without a contact like Pototo would have been a daunting task. The Cuba junky site was invaluable and we've spread the word! Pototo always put us in the best located Casa's and had plenty of helpful advice and itinerary tips. Highlights were Casa Jean Pierre in Vinales, without a doubt the best food you'll have in Cuba, and Casa Yaneisy in Trinidad, you could not hope to be closer to the historical centre, in fact you are right there. They even had a garage for the rental car!
Centro Havana was a real experience, despite the guide books warning not to stay there, we never felt threatened, walked around at night and stayed there at the beginning and end of our trip. Pototo says he likes to give people the real Havana experience.
Cuba was a fantastic place for a family trip, full of adventure and amazingly warm and friendly people. Hopefully we'll get back some time, it's a long way from New Zealand, and see more of this amazing country.

Thanks Pototo

Help - photos required
My wife and I are just back from 2 weeks touring around Cuba and would like to thank Pototo for finding us some excellent Casas Particulars. We flew into Varadero, where we spent a couple of nights to acclimatise, then picked up a hire car and traveled to Santa Clara, Sancti Spiritus, Trinidad, the mountains around Topes de Collantes and Cienfuegos before heading to Havana for the last few days.

Unfortunately, on the day before we reached Havana, we were robbed in a place called Guanabo in the Playas del Este, and amongst many things, we lost a camera and memory card with all the pictures we had taken during the previous week or so.

As I am due to give a presentation to the Leeds Photographic Society in a few months on my experiences in Cuba, I have a bit of a problem, in that the only pictures I have are those taken in Havana on the last few days.

If anyone has done a similar trip to us and would be willing to let me have some photos relating to the first part of our trip, and allow me a licence to use them for my presentation, it would be very much appreciated. They sould be sent to alex_crewe@hotmail.com marked with the heading Cuba Pics then I can identify them in my inbox. Minimum size 1024 pixels wide or 768 pixels high. I am looking for buildings, street scenes, people, anything really that shows the character of the place.

Thanks in anticipation.
