The best casa we stayed in. Carmen and Carlos were wonderful, the house is beautiful and the food is fantastic. Very close to Santa Clara's main square.

Carmen and Obregon are fantastic hosts and their casa is just beautiful - really an oasis in Santa Clara. We really recommend this charming place - it was one of the top casas of our stay. The owners are very helpful and kind and they serve excellent food. Great lobster and breakfast!!

This is a lovely house, very quiet, clean and comfortable. As a woman travelling alone I felt very safe and relaxed here as Carmen and Obregon are wonderful hosts - extremely genuine, welcoming, kind and really helpful. And Carmen is a great cook! Obregon helped me by finding excellent accommodation for the remainder of my vacation. If I ever have the fortune of travelling to Santa Clara in the future this is the place I would hope to stay without doubt.

I've just come back from Cuba and I would like to advise travellers about a very nice, confortable and clean Hostal in Santa Clara which is not listed in the guides and I hope it will be there soon.
Carlos the owner is a fantastic man very kind and helpfull. His wife Carmen has prepared the best dinner I've eat in Cuba!
The atmosphere in the Autentica Pergola is so quite and Santa Clara is a magic place where to stay at least one night...many go to the Che Mausoleum and than leave the city, do not do it, Santa Clara during the night is exciting with a lot of students and the spirit of Che Guevara in the air.

Beautiful casa in the centre of town. Carmen & Obregon were very helpful in helping us organise onward accomodation, taxis and giving us information on what to do. The food was excellent, the courtyard/pergola was fabulous and the hosts were very friendly.

It was one of the best casas we stayed at. It was great to be greeted with tea or a cold drink after a hard day on the bike. Rooms were great. Hospitality superb. Food was wonderful and priced well. Great atmosphere in an open environment.

Enchanting. We were only going to stay there 2 nights (due to limited interests in Santa Clara) but stayed for 3 as it was so lovely. Great food and charming hosts.

Very quiet. How was the food the offer?: Great food (whatever you want whenever you want). Loved the banana crisps and the fresh juice in the morning. Other services they offer: Pick up at bus station and any advice on places of interest. Both speak some english. Other comments: Carlos was extremely helpful in arranging transport for our return to Havana as the bus was full. (which we would never have managed) Even for a stopover to visit che monument do not miss this casa- it's just lovely. Also the library in the square is definitely worth a visit (it's free)

Other services they offer: Carlos drove with my husband to a garage because we had to change oil. Very friendly!!

Incredibly helpful owners who made us very welcome and went beyond the call of duty by far when one of us needed a hospital check-up. Carlos went with us, explained the situation and ensured we got good attention - even on a Sunday morning! Staying there was a complete oasis of peace and quiet in a busy city. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

How was the food the offer?: The food was really good - we are vegetarians / fish eaters and they were happy to accomodate to whatever we wanted to eat. We had some delicious soup, salads, fruits and excellently cooked fresh fish. The only difficulty was not wanting to waste their wonderful food, but being presented with more than we could really eat! The table was set out very romantically overlooking the lovely patio garden, complete with candles at the table, and their pet birds nearby. Other services they offer: We didn't really use many of their featured services because of the short visit and lack of time, but from seeing their information I am sure that Carmen and Carlos would take care of any needs. They did organise for us to park our hire car in the next street where it was inexpensively looked out for overnight to ensure no harm came to it. They also helped us in and out with luggage. Other comments: Can't recommend it highly enough.

Had a great time at Carmen and Carlo's La Pergola Casa. It is centrally located, not far from the main square where most of the evening activity takes place. The Casa is a beautiful old colonial mansion dating back to 1902, Carlos has done a wonderful job in renovations to bring it back to it's prior splendour. Meals were great - we eat breakfasts and evening meals here - the fish was massive! We only stayed 2 nights - due to the limited tourist activities in the Santa Clara area - however if you need to stopover in Santa Clara this Casa is well recommended!

Casa La Pergola
I stayed here for over a month in November 2009, and this casa is a big recommendation. It's located just one block away from Parque Vidal (the town center square) and right next to the only boulevard in town. Most notable however is the interior and architecture of the building: a colonial style Spanish house complete with patio/garden onto which all the rooms look out. There are two spacious rooms with double beds, airco, (a never empty) fridge, and private, fully renovated bathrooms.
The owners -a sympathetic couple with a teenage son and daughter- are really nice and hospitable and will go out off their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. Breakfast and dinner is served on the patio looking out over the garden. Very peaceful and something woth taking time for. Not just to relax but also because the meals were copious and the lady of the house is a damn fine cook. (If you ever happen to stay there and they ask you in the morning what you would like for dinner in the evening, just reply with: "Surprise me.") There are many 'casas particulares' in Santa Clara, but this beats all of the ones I stayed in hands down. If you're planning a stay in Santa Clara, try this place, you won't be disappointed!

This was a wonderful Casa. I stayed here with my mom, my sister and 6 month old daughter. The family is very friendly and extremely helpful.
The rooms are spacious and the common garden area is like a little oasis. I would highly recommend this casa to others visiting Santa Clara.

The owners are ever so helpful and friendly, the food great and the setting amazing. It was like a four star hotel - restored with tonnes of love and care.
